Ghostly Footsteps In The Control Tower

Some staff were asked to paint the control tower at Elvington, they had decided to paint the stairs and spend the night in the tower to get an early start the next day. They locked themselves in and settled down for the night. Sometime in the night they were awoken by the sound of the main door opening and somebody walking up the stairs. They heard the footsteps coming towards them and then stop. They then heard the door to the storeroom open, then close, and the footsteps went back downstairs and left the control room. “

Feeling frightened by the incident, they decided to stay where they were and didn't move until morning. When it was light and they had plucked up enough courage to venture out, they went downstairs. The paint on the stairs was till tacky, but the there was no trace of any footprints…

I do not know the source of this story so would be greatful if someone can let me know so that I can credit them. Thank you.

Underneath the wings of this Dakota both myself and a friend can see the ghostly image of a soldier being laid on a stretcher, his head is just under the wheel and his feet appear to be tied and his knees bent as though he is in pain. God rest his soul.

This Blog

This blog will attempt to research the hauntings that are surrounding the famous Air Field and Control Tower at Elvington Air Field in York. I will try and include as many stories as I am able to including my own experiences.

My findings will eventually be published into a short booklet with half the proceeds going to the airfield.

This blogsite is in dedication to all the Service Men and Women, who lived, fought and died in World War 2, in particular those who were based at the Site.

May God keep you in peace and harmony.
